How to change your wallpaper on Android
Updated 2026-07-09
Every Android phone lets you change the wallpaper in a couple of taps — and set a different one for the home screen and the lock screen. The menu names vary a little between Samsung, Pixel and OnePlus, so here's the quickest path on each, plus where to get free 4K wallpapers and how to set one in a single tap.
- 1
Pick a wallpaper
Download a free 4K wallpaper from the 2Live app, or use a photo from your gallery.
- 2
Open Wallpaper settings
Press and hold an empty area of the home screen and tap “Wallpaper & style” (Pixel/OnePlus) or “Wallpaper and style” (Samsung). You can also reach it in Settings → Wallpaper.
- 3
Choose an image
Tap “Change wallpapers,” then pick from your Gallery/Photos, the 2Live app, or the built-in set.
- 4
Choose where it goes
Select Home screen, Lock screen, or both. Crop or expand the image to fill the screen.
- 5
Apply
Tap Done or Apply. Your new wallpaper is set.
Set different wallpapers for home and lock
When you apply a wallpaper, most phones ask whether it's for the Home screen, Lock screen or both — choose “Home screen” and “Lock screen” separately to run two different images. On Samsung you can also add clock and widget styles to the lock screen from the same panel.
The one-tap way (2Live)
The fastest route is the app: open 2Live, tap any 4K wallpaper, tap Set, and choose Home, Lock or both — it uses Android's native wallpaper engine, so it applies instantly with no cropping dance. Every wallpaper is free in optimized WebP, so downloads stay small.
Make it move (live wallpaper)
Android has supported live wallpapers for years. To set a moving one, pick from the Animated/Live category in Wallpaper & style, or set it straight from 2Live. Our guide on setting a live wallpaper on Android covers where the motion shows up on each phone.
